fascinating how every white mass shooter’s actions must be a manifestation of mental illness when most people with mental illnesses are not violent, and most violent acts are not committed by mentally ill people. actually, people with severe mental illnesses are 11 times more likely to be victims of violent crime than the general population.

this horrific murder of nine black people inside a black church is an antiblack hate crime, an act of terrorism planned and executed because of racism and hate. this has nothing to do with mental illness, and to say otherwise simultaneously ignores the virulent and violent racism that causes deaths every day and frames mentally ill people as dangerous, rather than in danger.
